shiny metal text

how does one create shiny metal text? When I create a text mesh, and apply a metal material, and look at it straight on, it just looks flat, because the surface is flat. I want something like this:

not exactly like that, but hopefully you know what I mean. This pic was done in AI and I can't really use it because it changes the letters etc. I want to take the background, put it on a plane in blender/lux, and add whatever text I want on top of it. But when I try it, the text like I said just looks same color, no shininess unless I change camera angles etc but I want to have a straight on view.

Since metal surface is specular/reflective, that means its look mostly depends on lighting conditions along surface properties (roughness, anisotropy, colors, imperfections and other contamination factors). It's a play between light and shadow.
