Rendering Point Lights

Post by gyrocam »

I would like to create some out-of-focus lights in the distance of my scene. I've found lamps pointed at the camera do not render in the camera. I've had some success using emission objects. I would like to recreate some thing like the scene pictured here. This was created a while back with Blender 2.49 and rendered with LuxRender. As I recall, (i could be wrong) i used point lights rather than emission objects, and the bokeh effect is more organic than using emission objects. Here is my recent example of the bokeh effect (6 F-stop blades) with emission objects.

Point lights are not intersectible since they are a point. So they are invisible to the camera.
You will need meshlights/arealights.
