If I buy this add-on , Will can I use it with Lux Render?.

Post by jorari71 »

Hello.
I'm really interested in the buy of this add-on because I need to create fast and hyperhigh quality wear and rusted effects.
And I'm thinking to migrate from cycles to Lux.
I should say that I'm learning Blender and I don't think that Blender is the best render engine, because I come from Corona and I feel that cycles doesn't render like corona (or Lux Render).
Hence my question: I could migrate this cycles add-on filosophy to Luxrender or I would waste my money for nothing if I buy it and then I decide to migrate to Luxrender?.
Or is there any other option to create wear and rust effects with Luxrender?.
Thank you very much in advance.

Cycles nodes don't work in BlendLuxCore, you will have to re-create the materials by hand.
Maybe in the future there will be a converter, but I would not bet on it in this case because most Cycles nodes simply can't be converted to LuxCore nodes because the underlying feature is missing.

Most of the content in this addon seems to be node groups and Cycles materials.
However, there are also textures included, those obviously work in LuxCore:
In addition to the node-groups, Stencil also ships with 100+ detailing textures, demo models to try the shaders on and an extensive documentation.

There is the pointiness effect, however similar to the same feature in Cycles, it depends on the mesh geometry.
An AO shader/VRay Dirt is not yet available.

I really hope some AO/dirt node is coming to lux. Combined with triplanar shader it's magic.

You mean the triplanar mapping in this paper? I'm also super keen on that. :)
