Random rotation of 2D Mapping

Post by AndreasResch »

Hey.

Is there a way to randomize the rotation of the 2D Mapping node on a per object basis? It works quite nice in Cycles but I can't get it to work in Luxcore. Might it be possible via drivers?

Cheers.

This is currently not possible in LuxCore. You have to create a separate material for each object and change the rotation value for each one (this could possibly be done in a Python script).

The feature that would make this possible is the one described here: Drive Vector Coordinates with Textures (you would be able to plug the random object ID into the rotation)

Hey.

I feared that it wasn't possible. I tried it with drivers, but they don't seem to work with the 2D Mapping nodes. As I need that feature in pretty much all my renderings, I can only hope that one day this will be added to Luxcore. Otherwise I really love the quality of the results. I will keep an eye on the development.

Cheers.
