Flickering video

Post by rickyx »

Hi,
I would like to make a small FullHd video with this file, having a reasonable rendering time.
This is a first rehearsal:
0001-0049.mp4
(1.41 MiB) Downloaded 199 times
It came discreetly but the denoise causes artifacts and flickering.

Do you have any suggestions on how to avoid them?
Also, I don't know if it's a bug, if I activate PhotonGI Cache the denoiser pass gets black.

I'm on Linux, Blender 2.82, Lux 2.3.

Here is the file:
Natural_HistoryRicsLux2.82-E.blend
Pano video
(2.92 MiB) Downloaded 182 times

Thank you,
Riccardo

You could try:
  • Use Sobol sampler instead of Metropolis (Metropolis is very slow on GPUs)
  • Disable multiscattering in the world volume
  • Enable the environment light cache
In general, if the denoiser causes artifacts and flickering, you need to render more samples.

Thank you,
I tried: it reduces the problem of the denoise on the distant parts but white spots appear that go around.

I try to double the calculation time.

They may be denoised fireflies, how does the not-denoised frame look ? Are you using variance clamping ?

Clamping was disabled.
Enabling it (and passing from 10min to 16min ) has greatly improved the quality:
Much better! (Compressed frame)

Here is the non denoised frame:

Here my final setup:
