Add support for Blender 2.83 Volume Object

Post by melMass »

Hi All,

I'm a pretty new user of LuxCore, and I love it a lot.

I was wondering if there is a plan to support Blender's new volume object in LuxCore?
This is there new builtin way to import VDB

Thanks

It will be supported eventually, but probably not before the first stable version of Blender with this new feature is out.

Of course, it makes sense!
I might give it a go myself then :P

I have yet to discover BlendLux sources but I'm getting familiar with LuxCore sources right now by adding textures!

The volume object does not even support mantaflow yet :) mantaflow support is more important right now I think :)

There is no way to import VDB from Houdini right?
It's only available in standalone? I can't find a doc on the VDB node and from the forum, I'm not sure if it's already integrated

It is supported. You can select the vdb file exported from houdini in the openvdb node. In animations there still is some jittering because the adaptive domain transformation isn't correct. I have a fix for that but it is not available in the daily builds. I will try to push it in the next days.
