LuxCore Vector Displacements
Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements
Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements
Hi,
I think it only makes sense to add this scene to the testscene repo once the BlendLuxCore displacement support is implemented.
In the meantime, I was wondering what the license of this scene is? I can only find the youtube description as source, but was that the first time it was uploaded, and under which licensing?

Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements

Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements
Sure, contributions are welcome.
As a proof of concept I have started something here a while ago: https://github.com/LuxCoreRender/BlendL ... he.py#L157
It worked in final render, but I have not investigated yet how best to support viewport updates.
I am the main author of BlendLuxCore, if you have any questions, feel free to ask me.
To discuss this, it's probably best if you open an issue in the repo: https://github.com/LuxCoreRender/BlendL ... issues/new
Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements

Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements
I added the vector displacement node to the Blender addon, this scene can now be rendered with the attached setup.
However, there are some weird lines appearing along the model, for example on the right, not sure what that's about.

Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements
These lines are also visible in the cycles video @ 5:20 Min (https://youtu.be/iNAdi1nzOvE?t=317). It seems to be releated with the uv map.
Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements
Maybe the subdiv shape in LuxCore is not handling the UVs properly?

Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements
In Blender 2.81 they improved Cycles behavior:

https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Reference ... .81/Cycles
Adaptive Subdivision
Cycles adaptive subdivision now stitches faces to avoid cracks between edges, that may be caused by displacement or different materials.
