Hi Guys,
After discussion on the discord server, B.Y.O.B asked me if I could post a vector displacement scene I have, using textures and a sculpt from this video, originally showcasing Cycles vector displacement support: https://youtu.be/iNAdi1nzOvE
The scene is setup for LuxCore, with a basic HDRi lighting setup (a custom animated HDRi I made UwU) and some plain materials. It currently uses the displace modifier, in RGB to XYZ mode, with a global space vector displacement map, but B.Y.O.B and I though it would be useful for testing the upcoming vector displacement support. Dade already used this model and it's maps in his original showcase post, but a standard scene as a test bed should be useful. Download link is here (the .blend file has both the HDRi and the displacement maps included):https://mega.nz/#!uYdiGShb!xHQy6Uj9kWW6 ... gZR9U4o1-c
And here's a render of the scene as-is in the download:
Hope this proves useful!
P.S. This is my first forum post, so apologies if something is amiss.
LuxCore Vector Displacements
Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements
This should end in https://github.com/LuxCoreRender/LuxCoreTestScenes (even if, as far as I remember, the .exr displacement map is really HUGE).
Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements
On the topic of testscenes, is it really necessary to add scenes to daily builds? It's just waste of bandwidth and I don't see much use to that.Dade wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2019 8:37 am This should end in https://github.com/LuxCoreRender/LuxCoreTestScenes (even if, as far as I remember, the .exr displacement map is really HUGE).

Uh ? There should be only the Cornel box test scene ?lacilaci wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2019 10:14 amOn the topic of testscenes, is it really necessary to add scenes to daily builds? Oh, ok sorry. I never looked in that folder. Just assumed it contains everythingDade wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2019 10:34 amUh ? Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements
Should I, or someone else, add it to the github folder? The packed .blend file is about 350mb, so its not abominably large, especially considering it contains both a world space and a tangent space displacement texture, but those .exrs arent small either!Dade wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2019 8:37 am This should end in https://github.com/LuxCoreRender/LuxCoreTestScenes (even if, as far as I remember, the .exr displacement map is really HUGE).
Also, sorry it took me so long to reply to this - I really don't check the forum enough.
Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements
You can fill a pull request to add the scene to the repository. Can you also reduce the map width/height by 2 or 4 (to reduce the size as much as possible without loosing too much quality) ?neoncreeper wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 1:57 amShould I, or someone else, add it to the github folder? Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements
You can fork the repo, add the scene and commit the changes, then send a pull request like Dade said.neoncreeper wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 1:57 am Should I, or someone else, add it to the github folder?
But this might be overly complicated if you do it for the first time, you can also just tell me to upload the scene if you want.

Displacement test build link please.
