I'm a bit dissapointed. I was hoping, considerably cheaper than rtx2070 and then I would get two 5700XT maybe. Or more Vram but at the price of rtx2070.

Right now it is amd's "2070" without the rtx. Small price difference won't do it for me. I'll get 2070 and then later either another one or something more powerful.

Definitely looking at building a system around this once benchmarks and reviews are out (any OC potential?) My 4790k/GTX 970 system is getting old, would love to go all AMD, I don't even game these days so rendering is all that matters, and I just use LuxCore 🙂

Tell me, I have a i7 3930k, my first target was the Threadripper but now, with the Ryzen 3950X, I'm going to build a new system when it is available.

the 3950X is still AM4 and should work with B450 right? I'm thinking if I could upgrade from something like 2700/2700X

Yes, should work. B450 and X570 drivers support all Ryzen 1000, 2000 and 3000 series. AM4 mainboards with B450 may require a BIOS update. Before you upgrade better check if mainboard supplier releases an update for the 3000 series.

From what I gathered so far, pretty much every popular motherboard manufacturer will provide bios update. With biggest issue of B450 vs x570 being the pcie 4.0 support. Not really problem for me... not for now at least. I wish amd would do as good with gpu's as they do with cpus.

I would love to upgrade from my old i5-3470 to the new Ryzen 9 3900X... it would be a huge improvement for sure. But i'm worried about new motherboards prices, they won't come cheap, they say. Maybe it would be wise to wait for another month or two...dk

Before you all jump on the upgrade train, consider that Threadripper 3 is scheduled for Q3 2019 release and is rumored to feature up to 64 cores. Considering that each core is 2x faster than last gen (256bit FPU), it is going to be epic...

With the right price tag, energy consumption... to simply replace the CPU (2x X5650), board (lenovo TS D20) & RAM (16GB 1333MHz), i believe it will do great. Am already fine with the computing speed i have now & will likely get ROI from electricity bill alone in a year time or even sooner.
