LuxCore promo clip

Post by Egert_Kanep »

Just an idea, but I want to stay optimistic about it :D
Anyway I thought maybe we could produce a promo clip for LuxCoreRender's bigger release. Let's say 2.3 or for Blender 2.8 or something.

It could show all the cool features and best of this engine :geek:

Now the discussion is open, let's see what happens :D

It is a while I would like to put together a demo reel. I can look into the problem of doing the rendering but, for anything artistic-related, don't look at me.

How hard can be to put together 60secs of animations ?

I have saved some animations made by epilectrolytics (thread) and they total roughly 70 seconds:

Code: Select all

cuboanim: 30 sec
fire2: 20 sec
softbodyslomo: 16 sec
volcubo: 5 sec

I was thinking maybe more a bit more directed approach

So it would be visually and storywise appealing :)
And including the most loved features of course

Does it even have to be all animations? I am thinking a bit along the lines of this video:

And there is a lor of nice archviz stuff being done here...

It would be really nice but it takes a LOT of work, an artistic director and a lot more to do something like that. I'm not against it at all but we should be sure it is doable before to start.

At first, I was thinking to something a bit more like a technical demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1r2TrrJYqA&t=0s (not strictly focused on ArchViz but on photo-realism in general).

The first segment must be a small animation of:

It is mandatory

I don't think my stuff is good enough for an official demo.
But once persistent cache is working we will be able to make animations from Charlie's example scenes and maybe Laci can put something together like his pool scene and then we'll get somewhere.
It would help though to have the principled shader implemented for material realism to set up easily, there is lots of good free PBR stuff out there.

It seem hard to realize but it a lot easier. we just have to cut the problem in small steps :

#1 Showcase Scene :

.For Bidir and dispersion I can provide animated blend of theses one : https://luxcorerender.org/wp-content/up ... rk_01b.jpg

https://luxcorerender.org/wp-content/up ... SION_b.jpg

For Archviz i can and prefer to create new one from scrach so everything isn't old stuff :
Something like that isn't too hard : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lsn52rwNiog

I think laci can help a lot for this for sure. But again it doesn't have to be complicated ( simply visually attractive and well done) look at for example the first 40 minute of this animation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xd4eC-2GLlk&t=70s : nothing complicated so anyone can help.

For Quality control each involved can start a WIP dedicated to the project so help and critic could lead to better final output.

#2 Pre _animation

Easy steps also: We just have to make simple camera or light animation. for animation preview it is more easy Just lower resolution + PGI + GPU.

#3 Final Animation
It is a while I would like to put together a demo reel. I can look into the problem of doing the rendering but, for anything artistic-related, don't look at me.
#4 : Just open a WIP and start ____ And when someone start before you try to start asap yours___ this way we create chain reaction ;)

Let's put together a possible storyboard. Something like:
