Lux Render sample not rendering correctly

Hi everyone, I'm a noob checking out this renderer. I'm trying to render the samples but one crashes blender and the other doesn't render correctly.

Are you using v2.0 to load these?
The example scenes were made with the v2.1 dev versions, so you will need the latest v2.1beta2 to render them correctly.
I have added a note to the download page.

the upgrade is not working, the last image shows a warning sign for the update. Don't know what that means

The warning icon just says that this is an experimental version (alpha/beta).
Does rendering work after you restart Blender?

the problem seems to be the "embree.dll" is not named correctly to "embree3.dll"

Ah yes this is a known (and unsolvable) problem.
You can't use the updater in v2.0 to update to v2.1.
You will have to remove the old addon first, then install the new one from the zip.
