Sharp shadows on geometry
How to get rid of these sharp polygon shaped shadows on character armour, is my only choice to use high level of subdivision?
Re: Sharp shadows on geometry
Looks like the terminator artifact.

Unfortunately there is no real solution. You can only try to mitigate the effect by subdividing the geometry further and/or increase the size of the light source that is causing the problem.
Re: Sharp shadows on geometry
If you have a bump map on your shader try to make it smaller it work sometimes.

Re: Sharp shadows on geometry
I tried with higher subdivision and it made this problem less visible. I googled this effect and seems that other render engines also have same problem.
Seems there is not a clever solution for it yet?
An article about this matter, it explains this problem pretty well -http://blog.irayrender.com/post/2904227 ... terminator

Re: Sharp shadows on geometry
It is shadow terminator and it is pretty common issue, and I think both vray and corona have some sort of "fix". I remember Ondra from corona once mentioned that there is a way to "hack" it but not a proper fix I guess.
