Suggested Clamp Values

Hi All

With interiors, is there a general rule to aim for with the Suggested Clamp Values?

Are values around 200-300 regarded as acceptable, or is this a bit too high?

I usually aim to keep them under about 50. Is this restricting myself too much?

Thank you

Clamp value depend mostly on the kind of lighting you have in your scene. the brighter the light source the higher the clamp/suggested clamp values will be.

My trick is to have 10X the suggested clamp for interior and try to down it until i loose to much detail.

Hi Sharlybg

Thank you for your response.

Could you elaborate a bit, please. I'm not quite sure what you mean by:

10X?

(If I could get renders that look half as good as yours I'd be well happy! :D )

Cheers

I have described the procedure here a bit: https://blenderartists.org/t/motorcycle ... ?u=b.y.o.b

It's also on my to do list to find a better algorithm for suggesting optimal clamp values: https://github.com/LuxCoreRender/BlendL ... issues/195
However I first have to come up with some testing/validation method (and there is probably never a "perfect method" because what counts as a firefly is depending on the scene a bit).

Thank you for the link, which has explained it very clearly for me.

Have a nice weekend.
