Re: cannot see reflection of light spot
Dade, can you offer any further help? Can I somehow get volume scattering with path engine? I need the path engine for SDS but would also like to get volume scattering.
Re: cannot see reflection of light spot
Can you show a reference image of what you to achieve. So that maybe i can help ?
Re: cannot see reflection of light spot
Thanks for your offer to help.
The original image in this thread, made with "bidir", shows a beam being scattered as it travels through the volume (good). It is missing reflections in the mirrors (bad) as shown in the annotations.
Switching to "path" I can see the reflections in the mirrors (good) but no more beam scattering through the volume (bad).
The question is how to get both.

Re: cannot see reflection of light spot
here is what i get (light tracing don't help alot here so it is disable) with path tracing and caustic cache.

Thank you. However, I forgot to mention in my previous post that the scattering should also be visible after the mirror. In your render, it is missing, whereas in the first post it is present.

Re: cannot see reflection of light spot
Hello all,
This seems to be interesting topic? Do we have any final resolution or explanation?
With what kind of settings or scene restrictions might this scene becomes renderable and shows the spots as well as the beam images in the mirrors?
Thank you.
