I'm doing some basic tests with LuxCore 2.4 now that I can take advantage of Cuda.
Something I'm not getting is why the image in the viewport looks different from the render. I would expect some noise but I'm surprised by how better the viewport version looks after only 10 secs.
That said, I haven't gone through enough tutorials to better understand the settings, so I guess I must be missing something.

That is simply the OptiX denoiser being applied after the first viewport sample.
You should get a similar result if you enable denoising for the final render, open the T panel in the image editor while rendering, press "refresh denoiser", then view the denoised output in the passes list (instead of the "Combined" pass).
