Luxcore is very slow and freezes

I really like LuxCore but every time I try to use it for a project it's a pain. It's extremely slow when previewing the render in viewport, everything become laggy, changing almost any parameter and moving the viewport takes years to do. I can't understand why, my pc has an i7 8700K with a GTX 1070Ti and with Cycles is very smooth and responsive, with LuxCore is like using a Pentium 4. Sometimes Blender stops working and I need to force close and reopen it.

software:
Windows 10 Pro 1909
Blender 2.82.7
LuxCore 2.3

but this occurred also with older version of Win, Blender and LuxCore.

Please help me to obtain a decent performance because it would be awesome to use LuxCore more often! Thanks!!

Does this happen even with very simple scenes (default cube)?
Are you rendering on CPU or GPU?
Have you tried updating your graphics driver?

Here, it feels as snappy as before.
Latest commits from today (LuxCore 2bc28dca8, BlendLuxCore 9f3932b -- homebuild) on W10 with Blender 2.81a.

But IIRC, it's been mentioned that Blender is getting slower with every iteration until LTS or "everything nodes" (rewrite).

Yep, sorry!

this happens also with simple scenes (liek suzanne with diff and nrm and hdri light), I'm rendering with GPU but the issue is when working in the viewport.
I've updatet my driver but nothing changed.

the only way is to set the viewport render with CPU, it's way less slow but at this point the problem is the intrinsic slowness compared to gpu in ray tracing speed.

Since you are using v2.3, it might just be the kernel recompilations?
However some other settings for OpenCL viewport were also not optimal.

Can you check with a latest build of v2.4? https://github.com/LuxCoreRender/BlendL ... tag/latest

with the latest version the selection of the device in the viewport is automatic right?
