If you need Adaptive displacement , you can use the node simplify

Should the simplify shape one come after the displacement/subdivision? Clarifying for myself as well :)

It should be to the right of the displacement. The node tree is evaluated from left to right: Base mesh in -> shape modifiers -> output.
