I would like to mix cycles render and lux caustics, what is the right way to get caustics from Lux? Here is the (yafaray) version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZ7EtyhGeWo

They are called SDS paths (i.e. Specular-Diffuse-Specular paths) and are very hard to impossible to render even for normal BiDir. They require this feature: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1449

Short version: you need to use a v2.3 automatic build and to enable caustic cache too.

There is a trick you can use:

- use PATHCPU;

- enabled light tracing and set the partition between light and eye tracing to do only light tracing.

The rendering will include now only the caustics and should be easy to mix with Cycles output.

Note: it will miss the SDS path contribution I was talking in my previous post. There isn't currently a way to do an SDS path only rendering.

When official v2.3 will be out?

Thanks for the tips! :)

I hope before the end of the year but don't hold your breath :!:

However automatic build is quite stable so you could give it a spin.
