Just why it doesn't work if the "Cube" volume object totally surround the camera ?

Thanks you for the help. So everything have to be correctly setup manually like you did.I can understand the logic behind.

So now why my initial method is working ? i don't know
What is the limitation if it is a bad method ? don't know .

Really thaks you for the help.

You have to set the camera or world volume.

No because that way it will be just replicating your working method. What i want to understand before Dade answer is why my first method work. ( No need to define room and camera volume. just put camera a bit outside of the volume).
Want to know why this one work.

I think because by default camera assumes air to be ext interior and you view into the fog, not inside it. I might be wrong tough.

Given the fact that your a very experienced user, your question should weigh a lot more.

I guess there is an issue or at least an illogical behavior in the handling of volumes. Not only the camera omits scattering volume but also light sources depend on location, i.e. under some circumstances the beam is visible in the scattering volume if the light source is placed outside the volume but the beam is not visible if the light source is placed in the volume, e.g. laser. Strange enough, the beam gets visible after reflection by a mirror. (At least I observed these effects in LuxCoreRender V2.2.)
