You ran a very important test.
Thank you very much!

Conclusions:
i9 + RTX2080 give out 9.2 MSamples / s
RX 5700 XT One Without Processor 10 MSamples / s
Unfortunately, this is only half true. Meanwhile I have run further tests because RTX 2080 should be faster than 5700 XT. RTX 2080‘s chip has about 1.3 times more transistors (billions: 13.6 vs. 10.3) on GPU die and Nvidias’ cards drivers are currently more optimized than AMD’s. Well, RX 2080 price is about twice the 5700 XT’s. VRAM of both cards has the same capacity of 8 GB.
5700 XT LuxCoreRender Speed, end time prediction
5700 XT LuxCoreRender Speed, end time prediction
This numbers are very odd. I have no explanation for speed decrease after 13 minutes rendering. Speed gets more constant after 36 minutes and prediction of render end time at 57 minutes is close to observed time: 2h06m.
9600*9600, 500 Samples, 5700 XT, 2h06m
9600*9600, 500 Samples, 5700 XT, 2h06m
(I have observed render speed decrease with my own scenes too sometimes.)

Radeon is more oriented towards OpenCL, so it should be faster than Nvidia.
But why two hours?
Nvidia 2080 Ti did it in 37 minutes.

Предлагаю провести очевидный тест. Более корректный.
Я подготовил сцену для 2.79. В ней есть свет, материалы, камера.
Этот тест не будет таким изнурительным. Сцена и настройки легкие.
Time on Denoise does not have to be taken into account.

Эту же сцену я попросил на Discord-канале пользователя с RTX 2080 Ti отрендерить.

Вот сцена: https://mega.nz/#!h95kEY6C!lLICILIPTutJ ... YkhPFkj3Bo

PlasmaPeppers also did a rendering on his Radeon VII. His time is 2 min 15 sek

AMD Radeon 5700 XT, Scene as is

Code: Select all

Export Time 00:00:00.8
Sesseion Init Time	00:00:02.4
Render Time 00:02:48.2
Denoising Duration	00:00:03
Total Time 00:02:54.4
Compared with AMD Radeon VII this is a good time. :)

2019-08-14---== RTX 20800 vs RX 5700 XT ==---

Back to your typical work scene, Dez!
Its total time is: 01:52:24.
Predicted total render time after 00:13:31 is 00:56:00.
I have no clue why this render looses 56 minutes, it is apparently sooo much time. :o

We have to wait for a reasonable answer until our developers are back from their well earned vacations.

FarbigeWelt, did you change the scene?
Why did you have another image?

GTX 1070 & GTX 1060: 1 min 10 sek
Radeon VII: 1 min 17 sek
RTX 2080: 1 min 56 sek
Radeon RX 5700 XT: 2 min 48 sek
GTX 1050: 9 min

Hi Dez!
I have only changed Blender windows to show more relevant data.
Neither did I zoom nor rotate nor anything else in the viewport.

Hi, FarbigeWelt!
I understand why you got another picture - you used version 2.8 of Blander.
So the same scene at 2.79 and 2.8 looks different.
It means that the old projects will look different at 2.8!

I wonder if rendering time also differs.
And the modifier "Weighted Normal" in 2.8 works for Luxcore?

Please render this scene at 2.79 Blender.

Many questions :)

Hi Dez!

These are the values obtained with Blender 2.79b.

Code: Select all

Export Time 00:00:02.3
Session Init Time	00:00:09.2
Render Time 00:02:36
Denoising Duration	00:00:02
Total Time 00:02:44
Total time is about 8 s less than with Blender 2.80.

Hi, FarbigeWelt!
Thanks for your time!
To be honest, the results of the Radeon RX 5700 XT have upset me.
I think it's the drivers. While I am saving money for my first purchase (Rayzen 5 + Radeon RX 570) the situation may improve. Let's see.

Final results:
GTX 1070 + GTX 1060: 1 min 10 sec
Radeon VII: 1 min 17 sec
RTX 2080: 1 min 56 sec
Radeon RX 5700 XT: 2 min 36 sec
Radeon R9 290: 3 min 10 sec
GTX 1050 M: 9 min 05 sec

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their support!

It's time, and I bought a computer!
Ryzen 5 1600, 32 GB RAM, SSD M.2 256 GB, HDD 1 GB 7400 rpm, Radeon GT 590 8 GB.

Of course, I ran the test right away:
https://i.imgur.com/qreJpy9.png

As a result, my $270 card is in last place in this rating.
GTX 1070 + GTX 1060: 1 min 10 sec
Radeon VII: 1 min 17 sec
RTX 2080: 1 min 56 sec
Radeon RX 5700 XT: 2 min 36 sec
Radeon R9 290: 3 min 10 sec
Radeon GT 590: 3 min 14 sec

I am very glad that there was an opportunity to take this system now, without accumulating and getting into credits.
I am glad that now I have 32 Gb Ram and a very fast SSD disk.
But I'm a little disappointed with the graphics card. I thought it would run out of 3 minutes.
On the other hand, it is a modeling and viewport card. So everything is fine.
I'll wait until I stick to the plan, in six months I'll take the GT 5700 XT + 2 Kvt + 16GB Ram power supply.
And if there is enough money, I will take Radeon VII. And it will be a machine for many years 5 work.
