Re: Luxcore vs cycles
Are you seriously asking this question? There is not any PR flyer showing pros and contras of these renders in a comparison flyer.
You may read all release notes of all LuxCoreRender Version in github. Then you may do the same for cycles. Afterwards your are probably as smart as before.
Different people say LuxCoreRender is much faster if scene complexity increases.
LuxCoreRenders render look more natural.
After understanding how to use LuxCoreRender‘s material you get easier better results than with cycles. You may use Disney Materials if you like.
Viewport render in Blender is pretty cool and fast with LuxCoreRender addon.
Anything else, yes, just try it in openCL mode and get amused.

Re: Luxcore vs cycles
There are probably two main topics:
- Indirect light caching: works similar to V-Ray's light cache and can lead to very fast archviz interior renders. For an example see this post: https://blenderartists.org/t/luxcoreren ... ?u=b.y.o.b
- Caustics: There are three caustic solvers in LuxCore: Bidir (CPU-only), photon-based caustic cache (CPU or GPU), and the new hybrid light tracing (hybrid CPU + GPU). Any of these can render caustics much better than Cycles.
Re: Luxcore vs cycles
I think Luxcore with PGI, faster in all cases than cycles,in my opinion.FarbigeWelt wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 4:00 pm Different people say LuxCoreRender is much faster if scene complexity increases.
But the cycles, being part of a blender, are much better suited for compositing in the blender itself.
Actualy sorry for my google translate english :)
Re: Luxcore vs cycles
Normally such kind of question shouldn't be ask so vaguely.
Which kind of work do you have to deal with usually ?
_ interior archviz
_ exterior archviz
_ product Viz ( jewellery ? Car ? ...)
_ character design
_ large scale project with complexe feature interaction ( hair /smoke/SSS )
What is the most important for you ?
_ precision ( scientific simulation)
_ Speed
_ reliability
_ flexibility
_ Realism (some want eevee some need Maxwell or indigo)
_ Engine efficiency ( some like corona CPU only / some prefer Fstorm GPU only)
Precise your idea this way you will get really precise accurate answer.

"An image is worth a thousand words", check Blender.org image gallery, Blender artists finished projects, Blender nation best art of the week or whatever you want about Cycles renderings. How many photo-realistic renderings do you see ? 1 out of 20 ?
Than check our image gallery. How many photo-realistic renderings do you see ? 19 out of 20 ?
It gives you an idea of what each software is most suited to do or to do not.
