Retro Kitchen with beautiful Caustics

Post by johannes.wilde »

Hi there!
I composed the scene to stage the furniture i designed. (Lamp, Chairs, Table)
The feel of the scene should match some kitchen from the 50s in the early morning hours.
I can't imagine any other render engine besides LuxCore for Blender to solve the lamps caustics at all.
I gave E-Cycles and Octane a shot as well - the couldn't solve the task.
For i mostly use E-Cycles because of it's fast scene export and good overall speed/quality balance i am not that kind of a Pro with LuxCore.

I really love LuxCore for it's quality and look, but for me it just takes always hours to find good render settings. That kind of scares me sometimes, when i don't have the time for doodling around with all it's fancy features :)
It's pretty time consuming to find the right answers in the forum (can you use Light Tracing with Caustics Cache? When to use both? When to use one of both? What are SDS Paths? etc... You got the idea...)

Is there any plans to update the manual with all that new features? I would be glad, if i could at least help with parts of that, if there is a need for this.
Thanks for developing LuxCore!

However, here is the final image:
Light Tracing (100%) Indirect Light Cache (defaults) Env Light Cache (Quality 0.5) 2236 samples, 60 minutes Ryzen1700x RTX2080ti

Nice and special look !
For the engine setting take a cozy moment to read this : note also that there is a time stamp so you can move right to the place you want :

This looks so good! Love the details on the wall and on the floor, you feel the atmosphere in this room! May I ask if you used displacement textures?

Hi Buza,
thanky you for your feedback.
The wall displacement is just the a displacement map form a Texture Haven material:

The floor is actually from Quixel Megascans.

Nice Lomo-Look!

Although that ships the scene from a rainy day in Europe to California by sunshine
