Port scene

Post by Egert_Kanep »

A somewhat bigger scene I am working on. Currently modeling in Blender 2.8 and then I will take the scene to older Blender for rendering. My goal is to use as much procedural effects with LuxCore as I can to minimize hand painted textures. I already know some features I am going to miss for this project like custom split normals and ambient occlusion, but then I'll just have to revisit it someday. I hope to start shading next week, so I'll keep posting stuff here as it progress.

A very very good start. When a project is beautifull in the viewport it is a good sign ;)

Egert, which format do you use to switch back to blender 2.79?

I did a job start modelling with 2.8 and then, cause I'd like to use Luxrender, I exported the models in FBX and then imported.

Doing this, I've seen that , using the default FBX import settings, the autosmooth option is not working.
To correct this I had to disable "import normals" in the import settings.

Have you ever meet this?

Best way I have found for myself is to use ctrl+c and ctrl+v into old Blender. Has worked perfectly for me and all the supported modifiers are also kept

Copied my scene over to Blender 2.79 and did just a quick clay render with LuxCore. May the sculpting and shading start. Since I try to use much procedural ways of shading it, I don't really worry about topology and UV's. So I will be shading and sculpting some things at the same time, gonna be fun

Look like a scene from a short film animation ;)
