This video combines "Multiple Importance Sampling" with"photon Beams" and Bidirectional Path tracing.

They discuss a combination of "Volumetric Photon Mapping", "Beam radiance estimation","Photon Beams" and "Bidirectional Path tracing".
They put it all together so it forms the ultimate Renderer which is called "UPBP".
"This is one of the best papers ever written on Light transport".
