Re: Path Space Regularization (aka the solution to SDS paths)

OK, so photon mapping will be used here for SDS paths only.
It wasn't clear for me.

Re: Path Space Regularization (aka the solution to SDS paths)

It's sad, but understandable...

Does it mean the replacing of Hybrid rendering too?

Re: Path Space Regularization (aka the solution to SDS paths)

A forum thread from 2013 where one of the authors of the PSR paper answered some questions: https://ompf2.com/viewtopic.php?t=1743 Maybe my question is whether directional blur has some good properties for the combination with MCMC which spatial blur does not have. Yes, that is a very good question....

Re: Path Space Regularization (aka the solution to SDS paths)

Oh, I see, Dade has written OpenCL implementations from smallpt!

You're right, I just realised it, and edited my post.

Re: Path Space Regularization (aka the solution to SDS paths)

It's worth noting, that the minimalistic PSR sample implementation (based on smallpt) uses a very small light source. It has 3300 times smaller radius than the mirror and glass spheres. If I render the same scene with the original smallpt (without PSR), I get a black frame with a few fireflies. EDIT...

Re: Path Space Regularization (aka the solution to SDS paths)

And in the SM there is a 65536 samples per pixel image of this scene.

Re: Path Space Regularization (aka the solution to SDS paths)

Did you examine their sample implementation?

I have too little knowledge for this, unfortunately.

I agree.
