Re: glossy translucent and bump
I confirm lacilaci's finding, that Glossy Translucent doesn't work together with bump maps. It works with the June 26 version of LuxCore, but does not with the Aug 8 version. Matte Translucent is equally affected. It can be reproduced with example scene Procedural Leaves : https://github.com/LuxCore...

Re: dark juice
Thank you Fox!
I'll try to play with it when I find some time.

Re: dark juice
... I'm convinced LuxCore is doing the volume thing physically correct but that means tracing billions of bouncing paths in a dense scattering medium, together with the very low efficiency of SDS resolving with BiDir/Path+Metro it is taking its toll on render time. ... Using a not volume based surf...

Re: dark juice
http://graphics.ucsd.edu/~henrik/papers/acquiring_scattering_properties/acquiring_scattering_properties.pdf It looks very useful, but to be honest I didn't even try to understand fully. Do you have a formula, that can convert these values to LuxCore volume settings (and not just asymmetry but absor...

Re: dark juice
I just realized that path depth is the most important part with this juice case . Below are renders with Path / Sobol (without light tracing and any other "tricks"). The settings are the same, except path depths (total, diffuse, glossy and specular depths are set the same per render). Rend...

Re: dark juice
Just for the record, it works with built in Sun+sky, without HDRI, from any angle, straight out of LuxCore, without any tricks and post-processing. (I only mentioned post-processing, because my render is darker and has different color balance than your reference.) Yes, it currently only works well w...

Re: dark juice
no, they don't look nice, it looks wrong. Does this look like to you it would in real life? I don't know your settings, but I like my results, e.g. this one: (Sun+sky light only, BiDir+Metro) http://forums.luxcorerender.org/download/file.php?id=5508&mode=view With some brightening and color bal...

Re: dark juice
Yes, I didn't "shuffle scene, camera and lights around to make it look almost like what it's supposed to and call that a solution."
I just tried simple, proven environment, and it looked good right away.
