Re: Efficient Caustic Rendering with Lightweight Photon Mapping

This doesn't seem to be capable of rendering sds caustics(like current caustic cache can in luxcore)
So I'd say it's more like simple caustics, or basic or partial.. I don't know, if the caustics can't be indirectly visible it's not a proper caustics solution

Re: v2.3 Vs v2.4 performance

Maybe some luxcore gui bug? A 2.4 build from 2 days ago runs definitely faster on gpu than on cpu. In an production scene example I got 20sec/100 samples rendering on 2070 and 50sec/100 samples on amd 2700(Blendluxcore). Which is more or less as I always remember the difference between this cpu and ...

Nice.
Hopefully, once Dade upgrades the disney shader so that id does transmission we would be able to do leaves with it too.

Re: Blender short film Rivals

It's good. Caches are the enemy of animations sadly. Maybe some incremental building, or some error correction for high variance in cache entry...

Re: OpenCL v3.0

I think, they just don't care...

Anyway, now that CUDA exist someone from Nvidia themselves could hop in and help out with development. Them RTX cards aren't gona show off themselves :D and luxcore would prove very nice opensource benchmarking tool

Re: v2.3 Vs v2.4 performance

Slower rendering is always better than any precomp. process. Anyway, would like to see if cuda specific features or some other improvement could regain the performance. An interesting example of new features sometimes slowing down rendering is recent rtx update on octane. A very simple scene mostly ...

Re: Daylight modifications

On their forum they also mentioned they are working on a cloud system.
Probably some procedural background shader, maybe with some cloud shadow emulation. That could be a killer feature
