Re: PhotonGI cache
Ok, so the biggest problem in the scene that was being compared was tonemapper turned off. I don't know what it does to rendering when it is turned off but I don't think it is a good idea and you should probably use it to get proper exposure before you render final image. Here is the setup: Screensh...

Re: PhotonGI cache
I can't look at it right now, but tomorrow or after weekend. I suspect default power of luxcore flatcolor is too weak (it definitely is compared to sky for example)

Re: Usability and Luxcore workflow streamlining ideas
I would be surprised if 2.3 with some material changes wouldn't break compatibility. And it should, to establish some new grounds for broad userbase.

Re: PhotonGI cache
Can you make something like an experiment... hardcode all values and see if and when people actually have issues with this? Maybe expose one single parameter: "precission multiplier" that could multiply numbers + lower lookup? For me after all this time it is super easy to use this cache, ...

Re: Usability and Luxcore workflow streamlining ideas
Also i think we don't have to hide too much things from users. There are things that only teaching can help the best way. This can start by nice tooltip. But you still need to keep in mind users trying luxcore will come mostly from other renderers with some established general use. So while new to ...

Re: Usability and Luxcore workflow streamlining ideas
Last time I wanted to use metropolis on gpu I had some issues with it being super slow with and this is the response I got Metropolis on GPUs is "problematic": there is a sampler for each rendering thread, the problem is that, for instance, you have 12 threads on a 6 core+hyper-threading C...

Re: PhotonGI cache
Well.. So I couldn't wait and downloaded just now... And it seems it is just as it was, nothing changed (tried linux opencl version) /tried 2 different hdri's and while sun and sky give 1:1 result against Pathtracing HDRI still has a massive difference. cache unclamped render: cache_unclamped.jpg no...
