Re: Very noisy renders

Nice addition!

B.Y.O.B., is there any reason why the film refresh has a minimum of 5 sec? I can imagine that refreshing every 5ms can slow down the render, but LuxCoreUI at 5ms is faster than a render inside Blender at 5 seconds.

Re: Very noisy renders

So I think there is something interesting with Cycles. First samples refine the image much quicker than LuxRender, but then it seems that it always really struggles to render an noiseless image. I have had the same feeling when comparing Cycles with Radeon ProRender. Here is a render using principle...

Re: Very noisy renders

It may be only a problem of increasing the time between screen refreshes in Blender (a screen refresh in Blender is more heavy than in LuxCoreUI), there is a control in Blender for that. Lowest refresh interval is set to 5 seconds in blender. P.S. out of curiosity, can someone render this scene wit...

Re: Very noisy renders

First of all, check your performance (i.e. samples/sec), your Titan should be quite faster than my 290X, is it ? GPU only: 10.9M samples/sec - 196 seconds for 1000 samples. GPU+CPU: 11.2M samples/sec - 185 seconds for 1000 samples. Samples/sec value starts lower, around 5-6M samples per sec, and pr...

It's only there for the Sun and Hemi lights, not the others :)

Re: Very noisy renders

Can't see the "Indirect visibility" option in the light panel, is it somewhere else? Maybe it's not the philosophy of LuxRender, but would you consider setting the caustics off as a default, and let the user enable them if he needs them? I tried BIDIR+METRO but performance is far worse. I'...

Re: Very noisy renders

Hey Dade, I'm not using super bright diffuse values, it's just a glass shader, a car paint (BMW 339 preset) and a red glossy material (I've tried making the red darker as well, just in case). I have played with the clamping already, the Optimal value calculated is 1307734, but I find that I can lowe...

Very noisy renders

Hello! I've been playing around with very simple scenes (material spheres with car paint / glossy shaders, ground, sky light and/or lamps). I really like the reactivity in the viewport, it's night and day compared to LR 1.7! Starting the render is almost instant, and pretty stable. However, the samp...
