Re: CPU vs GPU shading
I made the observation, but had to increase min. epsilon by factor 500. It depends much on how the edges are connected in the shape. This glitches are often seen with GPU rendering after bolean operation difference.

Wooden Room, CPU BiDir, Metropolis, 1191 Samples, 2xHD
Wooden Room, CPU BiDir, Metropolis, 1191 Samples 22h26m, 2xHD.jpg After almost one day render time, I saved image as openEXR 32 bit float and converted it to 16 bit in Photoshop, also removed some bright single pixel spots with remove scratches filter and finally exported as JPG compressed 67% to c...

Wooden Room, improved lighting
18B7F60C-A9B9-4CE4-BE17-AFF678D680BF.jpeg Improved lighting with new lamps. Different ashtray model. Rendering with 2xHD is still ongoing (540 Samples after 7 h). Noise reduced in this picture with photoshop. First time overall lighting looks like I expect it. Table lamps look now as they should ba...

Min. Epsilon: Metropolis, GPU Path vs CPU Path
Modelling a new ashtray I've noticed some glitches in view port render which have been removable increasing min. epsilon by factor 100. Now, testing Metropolis regarding sun light and glass windows I've noticed a glitch, dark line below second window from left, in the final render when using openCL....

Re: at rickyx, reason for investigation
Can you post an image of what you want to reach? I got this: Laser.png In interior design often I totally remove the window glasses. Often I don't need reflections or I just mix transparent with glossy using a fresnel. Well, my idea was to setup a fog chamber for tracing beams. But the beams haven'...

Sobol hides sun light through glass
EDIT: Replaced pictures and scene with colored surrounding, added examples for Path. In the scene the effect started with a plane surrounding the room outside. 2018-09-22 CPU BiDir Sobol (2).png 2018-09-22 CPU BiDir Metropolis (2).png In the abstracted scene there still passes some light through the...

Sobol hides sun light through glass
With CPU BiDir, Sobol sun light does not pass through glass in some circumstances. To find the source in the scence leading to this effect took a while to be found. With CPU BiDir, Metropolis sun light passes through glass in the same circumstances. Also interesting CPU Path, Metropolis works too, b...

Re: first steps
In another quicktest I noticed that leaves at the top of the hedge look very green and wrong. Any tips on how to fix that? Nice trees in the background. But the very green leaves on the top of the hedge look like growing grass. Did you check the viewing angle? Are your leaves flat or 3d bend? Just ...
