Re: Specular reflection vs diffuse reflection.

The mixer test would be perfect if you would be allowed to use a fresnel function to blend the nodes. It cannot be a constant value (like it is in maxwell after version alpha) but a value which varies accordingly to the incidence angle. It is pure non technical speculation, but as I understand : IO...

Re: Specular reflection vs diffuse reflection.

Hi Daros, your material-testing setup is great ! Happy to see you here, I remember your quality works from Maxwell days :) The fringe looks like it could be IOR related. Not sure how it is taken in account by the various shaders. Mixing a Matte and Glossy material seems to provide better control ove...

Luxcore today

Hi community, in case you missed it, LuxCore was mentioned in last Blender Today Live . Pablo is not most up to date regarding LuxCore, therefore mentioned the idea of inviting a guest to talk about it. It looks like a nice idea, maybe if devs or advanced users here are interested, it could help get...

Re: Complex Anisotropic Texture

You can buils such texture in Inkscape for example : multiple-anisotropic-texture-height.resized.png make a document 1024x1024 px add a 1024x1024 circle with radial gradient, repeat : reflected, scale the gradient proportional with ctrl+shift to make the groves smaller (the size you want) create clo...

Re: Camera non uniform bokeh support

Nice feature, thanks Dade! On the subject, some renderers can make use of an "aperture map", an image texture providing the bokeh shape, for example to produce "heart bokeh", or simlate imperfections. Not sure how useful it is, but being able to provide a map is user friendly.

Re: Angular roughness/Angular glossiness

How I understand this question is similar to the "The grass is always greener on your neighbor's yard" proverb : seen from the top, we mostly see the brown ground, but seen from the side, everything looks green. If a physical surface has a lot of microscopic hills, seen from the front, ref...

Re: Need help finding an add-on

Hi Pablo, for batch product rendering I render through command line. These docs were helpful : commandline rendering , commandline arguments . It is a nice introduction to start using little scripts. An useful command is --python-expr , it allows you to pass some script command to hide an object, ch...
