Re: Tile by tile Rendering

For example if you have an object which is hard to render, but doesn't cover much space in the image, surrounded by background (easy to render). In this case full image sampling would waste a lot of samples on the background, even with adaptive sampling, while tiled rendering would stop rendering t...

Re: Usability and Luxcore workflow streamlining ideas

A small suggestion for the GUI:

Re: Usability and Luxcore workflow streamlining ideas

When we want to talk reality on this planet then the only "distant light" is the sun (maybe moon too). Oh yes, and the Sun is not so much brighter than a lightbulb. ;) So no, distant light needs to go, there is only a sun and ideally a flexible sun :D. ... But even then, we need direct co...

Re: Usability and Luxcore workflow streamlining ideas

It seems to me, that most of what your wrote would be solved, if the Distant was the default mode of the sun. In this case there could be a Physically correct switch, which triggered the current behavior. Note, I dont't have any problems with the current behavior of the sun, I love, that LuxCore is ...

Re: Fund to accelerate Development

get rid of: bidir In contrast I think bidir is one of the most important distinguishing feature of Lux from Cycles. When you have some time, please do some comparisons, it can be a huge difference, and not at all only for caustics. https://forums.luxcorerender.org/download/file.php?id=2242&mode...

Re: Shading issue

That's the terminator problem. See the FAQ (on the bottom): https://wiki.luxcorerender.org/BlendLuxCore_FAQ#An_object_that_I_set_to_.22smooth_shading.22_looks_like_it_is_shaded_flat_in_shadow_penumbras Well, thanks. I see it isn't a LuxCore specific problem. In my original scene it was caused by a ...

Shading issue

I have an issue with smooth shading.
First I noticed it only with bump map, but then I created the attached sample scene, which shows the error even without bump.

I use v2.1 beta2.

Yes, there is, under world properties.
...but I would rather use a large invisible (null material) cuboid with interior volume for better control.

Re: first steps

I think, a volume would be the best for mist.
