Double sided translucent paper
Hi, Is it possible to create a material for a paper (which has no thickness, just a plane) that has a different texture on each side and is translucent so you can see the texture on the other side? Like when looking at a piece of paper in front of a light you can see the text that's on the other sid...

Re: Lights in 2.3 (2.4)
OK, so I managed to get the same result in 2.4 with BiDir if I rotate the mesh light 180 degrees. On path I can only get the left ring showing. I tried changing the "Total Path Depth" but it didn't seem to have any effects. Also switching from BiDir to Path affects the lighting on the gold...

Re: Lights in 2.3 (2.4)
Here it is. On Path, on both CPU or GPU those 2 "rings" under the flask that show up on BiDir are missing. Weirdly, the left side ring shows up in viewport preview when using OpenCL, but not the right one. In final render neither shows up. Edit: Even more weirdly, in 2.4 the right ring sho...

Re: Lights in 2.3 (2.4)
Awesome, that works! Thanks! I can get it to work with the CPU.
However, as in 2.2 I can't get the same caustics result on the GPU (with Path instead of BiDir). At some point I think I read that in 2.3 both will produce the same or similar results? Or have I misunderstood.

Lights in 2.3 (2.4)
Hi, I had this scene rendered in 2.2 and I tried to render it in 2.3 and 2.4 but I can't get it to look the same. The attached image is how it looked in 2.2 I tried both Blender 2.81 (in which I originally made the scene) and 2.82 It seems like the the "laser" and the mesh light have no ef...

Re: Flask
Your pool scene looks very nice so far. I particularly like the material you got on the shades/sails!
Edit:
Another test, basking in the beautiful glow of caustics.

Re: Flask
Hah, cool! Would be nice to put my GPUs to work as well. By the way, the caustics actually cleared pretty fast. It's the area with the glass that was still noisy at 50 minutes. Well, at least the caustics on the floor, maybe internally it's the caustics that cause the noise on the glass, I have no i...

Re: Flask
OK, I think I figured out what the problem was. I moved the liquid further into the glass and then the Bidir render looked the same as the Path one. So that must be the correct look. Well, I double-checked with the real object too. :) However, I didn't like the reflection on the bottom of the flask ...

Re: Flask
I set them up like that (or at least I think I did) and still getting different results. Would you mind setting it up and uploading the scene? You can remove the embedded files if you want so reduce the file size. And what do you think about the caustic ring I mentioned above? I'm guessing that's no...

Re: Flask
So you mean the settings like this?
And also the bottom of the flask is reflective.
I'm not sure which is the physically correct one now.
Trouble is, like this I'm not getting that cool caustic ring in front of the flask. And also the bottom of the flask is reflective.
