You could try to reproduce the issue with a very simple scene (cube on a plane) and see if it also happens ...

That has nothing to do with your problem.
Look into the camera settings, disable the automatic tonemapping.
If you need it I can post a screenshot.

Maybe you are using an automatic tonemapper?
See "when I change the brightness of my lamp, nothing happens"
The tonemapper settings are in the camera tab, imagepipeline panel.

I will have to rework the "fire and smoke" preset in BlendLuxCore, currently it does not include scattering (only absorption) because that was so slow, now I can add it. :)

It is already available (TILEPATH engine).
In BlendLuxCore, it is available in the render settings: Just enable the "Tiled" checkbox.

Can you post a test .vdb exported by Blender for testing ? Here is the same simulation baked with 3 different compression methods.
