Re: Full invisible area light

Just a question. As Dade was able (unintentionally) to make the area invisible for specular material and now it fixed making area visible ... is it undoable to "split the code" -> if Visible to spec mat = true run the last fixed code, else run the unfixed code? It is already possible to m...

Re: parallax mapping Fstorm

Hi, Not sure what's the problem, just switch to gpu and enable lighttracing. From now on you're my personal hero. A test scene runs much quicker than before and reaches the good result in a time that I could get little animations with a single weekend of rendering. Thank you very much. BR I'm not s...

Re: parallax mapping Fstorm

Hi, with complicated light paths I meant something like that: Lichtleiter_neu.jpg I've added the blend-file to that post. If you'd like you could try to find a solution to reach this result without biDir. It would be really helpful for me to find something to speed those kind of visualisations up. ...

Re: parallax mapping Fstorm

Hello, Don't get me wrong.. I don't care about bidir BiDir is still the only engine that seems to be able to manage complicated light paths... This is just plain wrong. In fact it is exactly opposite since pathtracing+lighttracing+caustic cache can aslo do sds caustics(underwater, reflected caustic...

But is it something based on a published paper ? Otherwise it is simply unknown how it works :?:
Yeah well  there is some sort of auto conversion of bump map to parallax. But how it works.. I have no idea

Re: parallax mapping Fstorm

The problem is, if you say "I don't care about Bidir", you also say "I don't care about PhotonGI and Light Tracing", because they are also variants of forward raytracing (bidir is forward + backwards raytracing, while the Path engine itself does only backwards raytracing). Ok, b...

Re: parallax mapping Fstorm

I saw this, it's fantastic... But very likely not going to work with bidir Bidir isn't often used so it is not a lost  Don't get me wrong.. I don't care about bidir at all and there are a lot of features that would be much more beneficial than bidir and that probably cannot be used with bi...
