Another room

I (suddenly) found that all my materials were reflecting too much light. I'm trying now to find correct values.

Re: Little Addon for optical lenses etc.

That's what I've wanted to make! It's great that now I don't have to ;) And here's my opinion 1. Blender (2.79b) crashes when N1 goes below zero, so I'd add min parameter equal to at least 0 num1 = IntProperty( name="N1", default = 32, description="Number of radial vertices", min...

Me too.

What I've found working best for me is solid hair with number of sides at least 6. There's 4 on picture above though, it's because I don't have enough RAM.

Horizon

When modeling landscapes, be aware of curvature of the Earth. With perfectly flat ground surface, at 9.26 km from observer surface will be 6.7 meters below * tangent line drawn at observers location! That makes great difference from flat ground. You can easily see that on pictures below: 1.png 2.png...

Re: Doing proper SSS

I used matte translucent for this test. Does this look correct? Nope, it doesn't. I am just trying the same – make at least moderately correct looking human skin, but it seems current materials with volumes attached just don't make any sense. If they are physically based, I want to know on what phy...

That's right. I just thought it might be good enough substitution for things like convections flows.

Re: Volume IOR

Is there the way to simulate hot air for example? IOR is constant over all the volume so it is not possible to simulate hot air for desert-like optical illusions; they are the result of different air temperature => different density => different refraction. It would require to write same ad hoc cod...

All volumes have IORs however it is used (i.e. there is refraction) only when the surface between them is glass.

Re: Air Dust

If you want to limit the extent of the fog, you can use a fog box, but you have to set the camera volume to "fog" (if the camera is inside the box) so the rays start in the correct volume. Setting camera volume never worked right if you have at least 3 volumes in your scene. https://githu...
