reflectivity on a black material covered with a clear one

Hi all, just a quick question. How does luxcorerender handle the refelctivity of a fresnel glossy black material that is covered with a clear one? This *.blend file should show the principle: Intermediate.blend Usually it should be like this for light inicidence normal to the surface: For the clear ...

Re: Light intensities and matching Cycles

Hello, You are correct. This is in cd/m2 so if you set the tonemapper off and disable color management (show Raw values), the value you enter in your area light in Candela per Square meter (or artistic gain in LuxCore) will be the exact output value: 0.125 cd/m2 = RGB 32, 0.5 cd/m2 = RGB 128. Is the...

Re: Light intensities and matching Cycles

Hi, just a little question: how do you read light values from the rendering results? I mean how do you get the numbers? I needed some professional (means expensive) software for that task and I'm looking for workaround for this issue. From my understanding (at least) the *.exr results should show di...

Re: Light intensities and matching Cycles

Hi, Sorry I didn't try exact renderings since there is no official release yet. The changes are to quick during the last days to be sure that I'm on the right daily built. Generally I like the new scientific/artist separation. I'm trying to follow this thread but you lost me during the discussion ab...

Re: Light intensities and matching Cycles

Hi all, Please keep in mind that a camera does only see luminance (neither illuminance nor irradiance). Please refer this thread: https://forums.luxcorerender.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1067&p=15301&hilit=CIE#p15301 Previous version did right results if we assume that the value that is save...

Re: Black Reflections in Complex Glass

Hi You are right. i get closer. but really still miss lot of internal reflection compared to real photo. sc.jpg What did you change to reach this improved result. What's the exact set up? Is it a glass cylinder with an air helix inside? What do you use as environment lighting? Where is your referenc...

Re: Spectral rendering

Hi, Just like to agree to the facts mentioned before. For light sources most spectral information is available. A database may makes selection easier. A little harder becomes the light source when it comes to display, hdri and skies. I know that light simulation software tend to use individual RGB s...

Re: Light intensities and matching Cycles

Hi, You are totally right. Of course it's possible to create those variations with other sets of units. I was just thinking about a single identical interface that works for all light sources in the same way. My approach makes me a bit blind for other points of view. Regarding area lights I wasn't t...

Re: Spectral rendering

Hi, From my understanding the real benefit of spectral rendering comes with spectral input data. The demand for spectral defined lights is as necessary as spectral defined surfaces and volumes. If anything regarding spectral rendering is planned for luxcore something like an additional database for ...
