Re: reflectivity on a black material covered with a clear one
Hello, Question a: I'll gonna try to organize some measurement of this situation. Maybe we could clear that up... Question b: There should be no recognizable transmission of the black material. So no SSS is expected for this type of analysis. In fact you might be right in pointing out that some SSS ...

Re: reflectivity on a black material covered with a clear one
Hi, thank you for the file, very impressive, and very well visible interaction. Now, since I see that I could get everything, I'd like to know what's the truth... ... I did already a little web research but I didn't find anything useful. Is, by coincidence, someone there who know abut the real world...

Re: reflectivity on a black material covered with a clear one
I know about the round about 4% from first surface. That is true and right. According to Dade's answer there will be another 5% of specular/glossy from interaction with black material. That's how luxcore treat this situation. This are my thoughts: Having two clear materials connected by an intermedi...

Re: reflectivity on a black material covered with a clear one
Hello, The more I think about this, the more it pops up that really don't know what should happen in real world on such an intermediate surface... For sure the amount of direct/specular reflected light is reduced but by how much and what are the physics behind? What happens to the diffuse scattered ...

Re: reflectivity on a black material covered with a clear one
Hello, That is more or less the answer I was looking for. The glossy IOR has nothing to do with volumes Lets modify your example. I have a black table top covered with water (really no air gap between). The touching surface is shared by the water medium and by the table top. In the end if you have t...

Re: reflectivity on a black material covered with a clear one
Hello Can you explain it with some pictures YES, and thanks! This is a simple setup. A block that is made from two materials - one is a black one and the other one is clear. Both are with almost perfect polished surface qualities. setup.jpg this is the material for all faces black to air: black-part...

Re: reflectivity on a black material covered with a clear one
Hi everyone,
... obviously my of asking is not very suitable.
Let me try it in a different manner.
If I set my geometry up like in the *.blend file above, how many light will be reflected from the inner black face?
Thank you for your help.

Re: The flickerfree animation challenge
Hello all, Almost one year ago I had almost same troubles but with BiDir and Metropolis: https://forums.luxcorerender.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1198&p=14635#p14635 Unfortunately it wasn't resolved during that time. If really the metropolis sale causes this, will it appear with Sobol or Random ...

Hi,

Why does the sampler need this? Isn't it a bit strange to have the result as an prerequisite? What about a MonteCarlo sampling strategy? Does it also need the average luminance?epilectrolytics wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 8:08 pm Knowing the average luminance of the image to render is the only Metropolis requirement
