Re: Smoke and volume

If someone cares, this is the final still (colored in post, I have more control), in the next days (or weeks  ) I'll render the animation. The heterogeneous volume is slow but very accurate, especially compared with the Principled Volume of Cycles. With manual step size and OIDN is possible t...

Re: Smoke and volume

thanks B.Y.O.B. and Dade! I'll try! at the moment the only thing that I'm unable to control properly is the color, if I change the scattering color I can't predict the color as I expect, if I use the absorption color the whole domain has this color, like an overlay. Myabe I should tune the absorptio...

Re: Smoke and volume

I'm quite happy of these result, I prefer the first one. Both are denoised with OIDN. Heterogeneous Volume default.jpg Heterogeneous Volume with Multiscattering (render time is 31:46, I don't know why the statistics panel shows 0:58) multiscatter.jpg Volume setup Annotazione 2020-01-27 165304.jpg

Re: Smoke and volume

I would try to use as small path depths as possible, use only few lights, disable multibounce if you can afford it (it affects the look quite a bit). Other than that, not sure, homogeneous volumes are complex things to compute. Maybe this file helps to give you some ideas: https://forums.luxcoreren...

Re: Smoke and volume

Hi, I've started to do some practice with smoke in Blender (the "old" one, I've tried the new mantaflow smoke but I don't like it, at the moment). After some days of frustrating artifacts, I gave up with Cycles and tried with LuxCore: no more artifacts! yeee! Now I would like to ask if the...

Re: wrong light groups with OpenCL

Ok, I ended up using cycles for the lights only, wich are an exr texture made from a top ortho render of every type of LED, made with LuxCore. The PCB it's rendered with LuxCore and everything is composed together and animated via some mix nodes. Maybe in the next days rickyx will try some different...

Re: wrong light groups with OpenCL

There seems to be a workaround. I have solved applying the result directly from the driver script: that is not the best solution but it is working. Attached you can find a working example: LuxCore-Drivers.blend Thank you, Rickyx ps. nice discovery: if you remove the constraint and move empty over 1...

Re: wrong light groups with OpenCL

I can reproduce this at the 128 samples you set in the file, even with OpenCL CPU device (to eliminate possible driver issues). There might be a bug in the OpenCL code. Have you tried higher sample numbers (something like 1000)? No, because it takes too much time and I need to finish this shot :| a...

Re: wrong light groups with OpenCL

Instead of light groups you can change the intensity of your material emiitting light. Set a key for intensity and animate the value. The simplest shape for the LED plane can be a triangle. This reduces number of faces emitting light to one. If you have circles the number of lights depends on the t...
