What OS?
W10, Blender 3.01RC and Latest BlendLuxCore 2.61 (homebrew) works fine.
Only issues have lately started to appear w/ Blender 3.1 Alpha (corrupt geo).

I think it would be beneficial to have an interval (Y sec)option to pause rendering for a moment (X sec), especially during GPU rendering.
Unless something else is already in works to speed up UI responsiveness.

Oh, also, looks like you have some stuff there which is visible in rendering but not in viewport.

If you're simply switching between Cycles & LuxCore, not everything works OoB > Cycles Scene Reader (features),
so inconsistencies are expected.

Indeed¸all engines render volume like this. In other words, since there's no surface, normals are taken out of equation = no smoothing.
