Re: How to use interior and exterior volumes?

Something that springs to my eye is this: The two objects seem to have the exact same size. In other words, the outer surface areas really lie in the same plane. Try to make the cube with the lower volume priority (!) smaller. This is an issue in other places in blender, too. E.g. when you sue the b...

Re: RTX 2070

I have one and am very happy with it. At full speed (slightly overclocked 1740 MHz) it sucks 140-160W Power, very efficient. Pretty much the reason (other than wanting to try out the RTX in games myself) why I didn't consider AMD. The additional power consumption will just annihilate any price/perf...

Re: Will i7 920 bottleneck a gtx2070

I just ordered a completely new system with a 2070 yesterday, and I believe I have seen in some poeples signtaure here that they also have a 2070. So I would have suggested to do "benchmarks" with some LuxCore scenes if you are in doubt, but Dades statement is probably true and the differe...

Re: Infinity Mirror

I have a first test with OIDN now. Similar 10kS render as above. Model slightly changed and somehow the brightness changed again (no idea why though), so I had to adapt a bit in post - ignore the slight color change. As for the GI-cache (as discussed in the development-thread), this example seems to...

Re: PhotonGI cache

99.99% is still not cache-able or empty space, it is pointless to use PhotonGI in this scene (https://forums.luxcorerender.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=917). Yes, I already wrote in that thread that I didn't expect much from the bulk of that scene. Only for the logo in the middle, which is matte-tra...

Re: PhotonGI cache

I appended my mirror-scene. If You open it and hit F12 you get a similar output as B.Y.O.B.: [LuxRays][2.625] EmbreeAccel build time: 46ms [LuxCore][2.625] PhotonGI trace visibility particles thread count: 8 [LuxCore][3.468] PhotonGI visibility total entries: 0 [LuxCore][3.468] PhotonGI trace photon...

Re: PhotonGI cache

I just downloaded the daily build to try it out, but I'm having some trouble. Maybe I didn't catch all the current restrictions in this long thread, I don't know... Mybe you can guide me a bit  If i take Blenders default cube scene, switch to luxcore, give the cube a luxcore matte material, ac...

Dade wrote: Sun Feb 17, 2019 11:56 am Yes, there is a LuxCore parameter to reduce the number of threads used (and so the amount of memory required for all GPUTask buffers).
Will that impact performance?

Re: Infinity Mirror

I did some more renderings now and played around with a few settings. Two things I'll say first: 1. I didn't download the latest alpha with GI cache and OIDN yet. From my current understanding, Cache won't help with the tunnel effect, since that is basically pure specular + high glossy, but it might...

Totally agreed, please don't see my other comments as being opposed to this ;)
