Re: Different Works in Progress

Oh my it took me ages to understand exactly what is what in this image and how it corresponds to the scene objects

Nice to see the addon is being used :) I'll have to expand it a bit more soon, could use some extra features myself...

Re: Hybrid Back/Forward path tracing (aka BiDir without MIS)

I think I'm a bit losing your point... Are you suggesting that raytracers should move towards the simulation of real camera systems, with real lenses and sensors? Wouldn't this be computationally a lot more expensive? The "thin lens" camera model has limitations for sure, but is very effective. As ...

Re: playing with caustics

Looks good :)

Did you compute the water with a fluid simulation or a plane + dymanic paint? (Or something else...)

Re: Variation of brightness during animation

I am beginning to think the whole problem you have with this scene might come from the Volumetrics of the AirTo Silicone object. It is only a plane in your case, which could lead to some issues, even though it seems otheriwse correct with the emmiter having its exterior defined as silicone. However,...

Re: Variation of brightness during animation

I don't think this is the correct solution. because his camera is 2 meters from the object, so 1m clipping is obviously too short (although I wonder why it still renders then...)

Re: Hybrid Back/Forward path tracing (aka BiDir without MIS)

Ok I think I now understand the point about how the DOF camera is currently implemented. I'm not quite convinced about this yet, though: the probability to hit the ultra-tiny lens sensor is going to be so small that the end result will be just few fireflies and nothing more. I did some renderings be...

Re: Hybrid Back/Forward path tracing (aka BiDir without MIS)

When I set light rays to 100% I get a black render which is the logical thing to expect. No, not the amount of light rays, the glossiness threshold! Regarding DOF: ... I have no idea how LuxCore does this. Neither do I, hence my question :D But yes, could be implemented like that as well...

Re: Game engine with realtime path tracing?

Ok got it running. No by compiling though. It succeeded to build, but it turns out the game files are not open source and so I was missing those :D For the Steam download I found a pretty dumb but simple workaround in some forum: Open the steam-webpage for the game via google translate. Works like a...

Re: Hybrid Back/Forward path tracing (aka BiDir without MIS)

One thing I noticed is that you set the glossiness threshold extremely low. This means all your rays will be camera rays so it is effectively standard path tracing. By setting it very high (0.1 was too low) You can actually squeeze something out of it, although it is still a lot slower, only shows a...

Re: Game engine with realtime path tracing?

I didn't get it from steam, I think it was somewhere on nvidia, and also should be elsewhere as a standalone download The Nvidia website also doesn't offer it for Germany. (I don't have any VPN or similar available either ;) ) I will try comiling from source, need some experience with this stuff an...
