Re: LuxCoreRender v2.4beta1 released

It looks like a bug/incompatibility between our Intel OIDN version and Blender (?). If you download Intel OIDN v1.2.1 (https://www.openimagedenoise.org/downloads.html) and copy "oidn-1.2.1.x86_64.linux/lib/libOpenImageDenoise.so.1.2.1" over our OIDN (v1.1) "~/.config/blender/2.83/scripts/addons/Ble...

Re: LuxCoreRender v2.4beta1 released

This new version crashes for me in Blender 2.83 when denoising during render, either when pressing Rerfesh Denoiser or stop the render. In Blender viewport and in standalone LuxCoreUI it seems to be fine. The OS is Kubuntu 19.10. I attached console output and Blender crash txt for the default cube s...

Path Guiding - Again

After reading the lecture below, I think LuxCore's PhotonGI Indirect Light cache could be modified with relatively small changes to provide something like Path Guiding: http://www.cs.uu.nl/docs/vakken/magr/2019-2020/slides/lecture%2013%20-%20bidirectional.pdf (Path Guiding part begins on page 29.) I...

...Very responssive in the Viewport and fast final rendering start time as there no opencl compilation...
Does this also mean, you didn't use any caches?
Maybe you used bidir?

Very-very nice renderings by the way, I truly envy your talent. :)

Re: LuxCore Vector Displacements

In Blender 2.81 they improved Cycles behavior: https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Reference/Release_Notes/2.81/Cycles Adaptive Subdivision Cycles adaptive subdivision now stitches faces to avoid cracks between edges, that may be caused by displacement or different materials. https://wiki.blender.org/w/im...

Re: PhotonGI caustic cache re-factoring

Light tracing (or the cache) is used only "under" the sphere because the caustic is only there, over the sphere, normal path tracing will be used and your light source is very hard to find for a path tracer: just render with normal path tracing to have an idea. Yes, I know this, and it doesn't real...

Re: LuxCore v2.3 proposed features

If Bidir have to exist it need more love... BiDir must exist (and needs solution for SDS) to be the full featured "holistic" reference renderer. Path Tracing with Light Tracing and PGI caches is good for the most scenes, but it's overly complicated and still doesn't cover complex cases, like when t...

... lighttracing isn't doing anything.
Isn't it because of the path.hybridbackforward.partition setting?
(Just an idea, didn't have much time to test it yet.)
