Re: Usability and Luxcore workflow streamlining ideas

It is HUGE (in Lux context): just try to render a glass sphere on a plane (better if with BiDir), the sun will cast a caustic while distant light doesn't. Distant light emits all parallel photons along the defined direction, it can not be intersected so there are no fireflies with path tracing, it ...

Re: Usability and Luxcore workflow streamlining ideas

Simple way will be to put distant generic sun as default. What do you think ? I know I could appear as a stupid but I can't really understand the difference from a distant light and a sun light. My background is 3dsmax and Vray. Before Vray added VraySun light type, you have to use a directional li...

Re: Direct Light cache: how to avoid splotches?

P.S. for the record, it is a scene with 11,000+ light sources. I think that the sign on the left is the main problem. I added on the fly cause I had to finish in hurry and I didn't think to optimize it. The lights on the track on the ceiling should fine. The emissive material is assigned to just a ...

I agree with this last suggestion.

About the sun, an option artistic / realistic should be good.

Re: Usability and Luxcore workflow streamlining ideas

I'm maturating the idea to have V2.1/2.2 dedicated to "caches" and v2.3 to "materials". I think it's a great plan. :) About materials, I don't find that we have too much materials... in any case, coming from Vray, I always pushed for a ubershader... both in Cycles...or in any thread like this topic...

Re: Direct Light cache: how to avoid splotches?

Some exclude list or something else to help the engine with samples estimation?

Could be helpful in this case?

Re: Direct Light cache: how to avoid splotches?

Isn't this always the same bug? I mean visually it always looks like the MIS issue with caching, or is it something different? Only if it is glossy and I asked before (https://forums.luxcorerender.org/posting.php?mode=quote&f=4&p=8053#pr7607) to redo the test with mate material so I assume the abov...
