Aha, good to know. Thanks @epilectrolyticsepilectrolytics wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 2:20 pm There is a serious energy conservation bug in the BiDirVM+metropolis combo: the caustics get ever brighter with render time.
Sobol and random work (kind of) ok, but slower.

Re: Cold Fusion
For classic engine it seems like smaller scattering value works better, or asymmetry value more forward scattering like 0.8 or 0.9 Then it's less white. I got good speed up by moving camera closer to subject with wide angle lens 15mm from 70mm and making the scattering room / cube smaller. Also i h...

Oops. Of course, thanks @epilectrolyticsepilectrolytics wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 9:50 am @p2or:
That is probably the difference between BiDir and BiDirVM, which is not available from Blender.

Re: Cold Fusion
Here with scattering asymmetry down from 0.9 to 0.5 the light beam is stronger, but with classic engine the beam is blown out inside prism, don't know if the spectral rainbow will come out, perhaps it will. 55 passes. 55 Passes, multi scattering on.jpg Prism BiDirVM.7z Hi @Fox, thanks, pretty helpf...

Re: Cold Fusion
Thanks again @B.Y.O.B. Yessssss! You are correct, my fault. I've accidentally added another interior to the bounding volume while fiddling with the values. Now we're getting something similar, brilliant! Also the outcome is indeed way nicer using metropolis sampling, thanks for adjusting my render s...

Re: Cold Fusion
Have you fixed the volume setting of the world? Dade found that it was wrong in the .blend: https://forums.luxcorerender.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=75&start=20#p1071 Thanks for your quick reply @B.Y.O.B. Yep, already tried adding a homogeneouse volume to the enviroment. The outcome is also pre...

Re: Cold Fusion
Ah, got it, the world has no volumes so all the rays starting from the camera travels into the void. The solution is to set the default world volume (or to set the prism and all other objects outside volume). Hey guys, many thanks for this great example. However, I can't get the lasers showing up t...
