Volumes for clear glass

Hi, If I do a clear glass (no color), do I need to add a volume to it for it to be accurate and interact properly with the rendering engine? It doesn't seem to make a difference to me visually, at least in my testing, but wondering if it would be important in some cases (besides intersecting volumes)?

Re: Viewport render crash on GPU Cuda

Yep, that seems to have fixed the half-image issues. Thank you very much!

I'll see if there are still crashes too. Before it crashed quite often with both cards and was much stable with just one.

Re: Viewport render crash on GPU Cuda

As an add-on to my post above, I had a LuxCore 2.4 alpha install and tried it and the issue does not happen in that.

Re: Viewport render crash on GPU Cuda

Hi, Just came to the forums to report some crashes/weird stuff and saw this thread. I think it might be related. Using CUDA as well, but I think the behavior is the same with OpenCL. I also have two cards, an RTX 2070 Super and a GTX 1060. The 2070 is the main card, that is the one which I have the ...

Re: Double sided translucent paper

Thank you for the answer.

The translucent materials look so good in LuxCore it would be great if this was supported too at some point to make them even more versatile. :)

Double sided translucent paper

Hi, Is it possible to create a material for a paper (which has no thickness, just a plane) that has a different texture on each side and is translucent so you can see the texture on the other side? Like when looking at a piece of paper in front of a light you can see the text that's on the other sid...

Re: Lights in 2.3 (2.4)

OK, so I managed to get the same result in 2.4 with BiDir if I rotate the mesh light 180 degrees. On path I can only get the left ring showing. I tried changing the "Total Path Depth" but it didn't seem to have any effects. Also switching from BiDir to Path affects the lighting on the gold material ...

Re: Lights in 2.3 (2.4)

Here it is. On Path, on both CPU or GPU those 2 "rings" under the flask that show up on BiDir are missing. Weirdly, the left side ring shows up in viewport preview when using OpenCL, but not the right one. In final render neither shows up. Edit: Even more weirdly, in 2.4 the right ring shows up, but...

Re: Lights in 2.3 (2.4)

Awesome, that works! Thanks! I can get it to work with the CPU.

However, as in 2.2 I can't get the same caustics result on the GPU (with Path instead of BiDir). At some point I think I read that in 2.3 both will produce the same or similar results? Or have I misunderstood.

Lights in 2.3 (2.4)

Hi, I had this scene rendered in 2.2 and I tried to render it in 2.3 and 2.4 but I can't get it to look the same. The attached image is how it looked in 2.2 I tried both Blender 2.81 (in which I originally made the scene) and 2.82 It seems like the the "laser" and the mesh light have no effect on th...
